Mother's Day

Jack's favorite part of Mother's Day Weekend was that we got to spend a lot of time with his Awesome Uncle Adam.

And Mommy did too!

Mommy's favorite part was getting a card from Jack that, when he gave it to me, he said "Happy Easter Mom! Love you"

A Fisherman's Tale

Jack went down to "Grandpa-Grandpa's House" a few weeks ago to go fishing for the first time. I wish that I could upload videos so you could hear his "Fisherman's Tale", but alast, you will have to accept the written form.

Mommy : "Jack, did you go fishing at Grandpa's house?"

Jack: "I went fishing at Grandpa-Grandpa's house. And Daddy and Grandpa and Jack."

Mommy: "Did you catch any fish?"

Jack: "I caught ALL of them" (as he holds out his hand with all five fingers splayed to demonstrate the number five)

Mommy: "You did!? Really? What kind of fish did you catch?"

Jack:
"Jumpy"

 "And Flippy"

 "And Wiggly"

 "And Slippery"

 "And Small"

Come to find out later that after Jack caught five fish, his daddy said to him, "Ok Jack, that's ALL of the fish in the lake, let's go home" :)

Easter

We had a wonderful time in New York during Easter. Luckily, the Easter Bunny got our note and knew to visit Jack at his Gramimi's house.

The Easter Bunny was nice enough to bring yummy snacks for Jack and filled his Easter Eggs with dried cherries and yogurt covered raisins!!! Now Jack wants to eat everything in his Easter Eggs!!!

Jack got an assortment of toy insects and reptiles for Easter including this Gecko that Jack instisted was a "Jacko".

Jack and Daddy playing Snakes and "Jackos", a new take on Cops and Robbers : )

Spring Swing!

Thank you for such a nice day!

Cookie Winner!!

Last week, Mommy forgot that she had volunteered to enter a bake off at work (proceeds are going to charity). So at 9:30 on Thursday Night, she started making a Wilson Standard, Jack's Great Grandma Melliss' Molasses.
I got all my wet ingredients mixed and then realized that I didn't have any flour! 4 cups of flour is a little much to ask of a neighbor at 9:45PM, so I went out in desperate hope that the center market was open. It wasn't, but CVS was! I got the flour and headed home to continue my baking adventure. I added the ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnam---what!!! No CINNAMON!!! How can you make molasses cookies without CINNAMON! It is almost as bad as making them without Molasses!!! At this point, I knew that CVS was closed, but I found some old cinnamon sticks in the cupboard. I got out my microplaner and started to work at the sticks! Yeah-- that lasted all of two minutes!!! Not to be deterred, I pulled out the allspice--close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and now molasses cookies!!!

Well, after all that, and some shameless use of child advertising (see the picture below which was featured on my voting box), I am proud to say that "Jack's Great Grandma Melliss' Molasses" won first place in the cookie category, Cinnamon, or not!!

Mommy! I made a Mess!

Last week Jack was up in mommy and daddy's bed watching Handy Manny while mommy was making dinner. Just as my hands were covered with chicken goo, Jack yelled down the stairs..."Mommy, I made a mess!" in the perfect sing song voice of a devilishly innocent child. I figure at that point, what was done was done, so asked him to come downstairs and help me make dinner. Yaddah, Yaddah, Yaddah, we finished dinner and I completely forgot about "the mess". So after we finished putting Jack to bed, I went into our room to grab the laundry and low and behold!, discovered "the Mess". Jack had removed all of the tampons out of a new box that Mommy had just bought. He then proceeded to remove the wrapper on each one and scatter them across the bed as seen in the sight that I got to behold that night!!! I love my son!!!

April-- Mommy's Birthday!

Jack helped Mommy celebrate her birthday. When he woke up he decided that he wanted to get mommy "Balloons and Pinecones" for my birthday. After a series of questions, we determined that the "pinecones" that he was referring to were the orange soccer cones, similar to the ones that Aunt Linda has for the horses. So after a quick trip to the grocery store, Dicks and iParty, we were set for a great party!

April-- More Florida Pictures...

A few more great pictures from my cell phone of our trip to Florida to visit Meema!

Proportionaly to our time spent in Florida, we spent a lot of time in the Reagan Airport in DC due to weather related issues in Florida and again in Boston on our way home. Jack wasd a great sport about it all, even before mommy shelled out $40 for a new pair of head phones and a charger so that Jack could watch a movie on the iTouch.

When we finally got to Florida, Meema and Gram surprised Jack with a new pair of goggles. Although they were a little big for his face, he insisted on wearing them every time we went down to the pool...
...which was quite often as that soon became Jack's favorite hangout.

Rare photos of Jack on the beach!

One night, we went out to dinner at Cheeburger, Cheeburger with Aunts Judy and Margie, Uncles Dick and Don and Gram and Meema! Jack loved his Chicken Nuggets in the cool car-basket!

"Cool Dude, Aunt Judy!"

And yet again, we waited in Regan on our way home! Jack was a great sport!

April-- Cousin Camp-out

Thanks to Shelley and Big Jon for yet another successful Cousin Campout!!! All the activities that one should expect at a campout were covered by Jack!

Drinking

Driving... not simulatneously, of course!

Cooking,

Music,

And enjoying the company of friends...

Thanks Brooks Family!

Florida!

We were honored to spend our first full day in Florida with Jack's second cousin, once removed :-)Whitley and her mom & dad. Jack and Whitley had a great time together, albeit it very short, and Jack continued to ask for and talk about Whitley for the rest of our trip.

(Avery and Cooper played with them in spirit, note the pictures in the background).

Jack absolutely LOVED Meema's Pool. It was very hard to convince him to change it up a bit by going to the beach! Mommy treaded water for 2 hours straight one day!

Jack is showing his "moves" to Meema! "Meema, watch this!"

Finally, after intense negotiations and bribes to go play with the little girls on the beach, Jack was convinced and we spend all of an hour out on the beach!

But he did enjoy himself!

Thank you Meema & Gram for a wonderful weekend! We love you both very much!!!

A last hurrah!

Monday night, Jack & I were outside playing in the back yard when the phone rang. I went inside to get it and when I peeked out the kitchen window I didn't see him! I ran outside fearing that he went around the front of the house. I was yelling for him and then all of the sudden I heard this little voice up the hill say "I'm up here mommy".

Jack had dragged the snow tube up the hill and was trying to enjoy the last of snow with a final sledding trip. Can you spot him?!

Dress for Sucess

Our best friends, Courtney and Tony, came to visit us from Syracuse this past weekend. Courtney is an avid horse lover, so we want to be sure to visit the Aunt Linda and her horses.
We pulled out the Cowboy Boots that Linda & Roger gave Jack for his birthday for the walk down the road. Piece by piece, Jack started adding to his ensemble until we were all ready to go. This is what he chose to wear. I am thinking that somewhere, this outfit may be cutting edge...
Yes, that is a tie he is wearing!

Thank you to Courtney, "Courtney and Tony" and their friend Jeff for spending the weekend with us. Thank you Jeff for the Red Sox Baseball Bat & Ball. "Thumbs-up dude!!!"

Florida, Here we come!!!

Saturday, we were consulting the U.S. Map on Jack's placemat to plot our route to visit Meema.

Direct Quote from Jack regarding the plans were:
"I go up in my airplane and go way up in the sky (his hand flies through the air and lands on Florida) and I fly down to the Aligator and visit Meema and have Chinese Food!"

Man this kid has an amazing memory!!!

Mystic Aquarium

Grandma and Auntie Kirsten took Jack to the Mystic Aquarium to see all of the sea animals.

Jack was amazed at the large Beluga whale swiming right in front of him.
He laughed as he tickled its belly as it swam bye.
Jack then chose a different angle to admire the Beluga.
Next up was the sea lion show.
Jack loved when the sea lions barked.

After a fun morning at the Aquarium, Jack stopped in to visit Uncle Bill and just had to have some ice cream! Thank you Uncle Bill!
